Will masks be required for entry?
Yes! Masks or other cloth covering both your nose and mouth are required when entering the Market. CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings, including outdoor spaces where social distancing is difficult to maintain.
Wearing a mask helps us keep each other safe and prevent the spread of COVID-19. We wear masks to protect each other. Your mask protects them. Their mask protects you.
How do we use Pandemic-EBT at the Market? Does it work with Double Up Food Bucks?
Pandemic-EBT (P-EBT) functions the same as a Bridge Card. Yes, P-EBT Doubles Up! We run your card at the Market Office, give you tokens, then you pay your vendors using those tokens.
Come to the Market Office before you shop and we’ll get you set up!
I want to avoid crowds, but I want to shop at the Market. What do I do?
Our Tuesday and Thursday Markets begin June 1 and are excellent options for you! Early hours of our Saturday Market, just after 7am, are also not as crowded as later in the morning.
Will Drive-Thru Pickup still be available for those that do not wish to walk through?
No. As of right now, we have no plans to continue operating as a Drive-Thru Market after May. We'll continue to evaluate the situation & adjust as needed. at this time, based on the way the market space is set up, our team's current resources, as well as vendor & customer interest/feedback, we are not planning to do a drive-thru in addition to the walking market.
However, the Tuesday & Thursday Markets are smaller & much less crowded than Saturdays, and are a great alternative!
Do we need to order ahead?
No. Pre-orders are NOT required. Check with your vendors individually to see if they offer pre-orders.
Are there any craft vendors or artisans at the Market?
Yes! We’re bringing back Artisan in 2021.
HOW CAN I SHOP VENDORS THAT MAY NOT BE AT THE MARKET?
Please check out our Shop Local During COVID-19 page to discover ways you can support Market vendors right now. A number of vendors have online stores or offer phone ordering, delivery, and more.
Also, we recommend checking out the Bank Street Winter Market Facebook page.
Will contactless payment be an option?
A number of vendors do accept credit/debit cards. Some still may only accept cash. SNAP/EBT and Double Up Food Bucks will still be tokens (retrieved at the Market Office and sanitized between shoppers).
But ultimately, each vendor manages their own payment options, so we can’t say for sure.
Is the Kalamazoo Farmers Market the same as the Bank STreet Winter MArket?
The Bank Street Winter Market, held at the Bingo Hall on Bank Street, is not operated by PFC. We share many of the same vendors and encourage supporting them at this indoor farmers market. You can find updates about the Bank Street Winter Market on their Facebook page.
The Bank Street Winter Market is generally held indoors from the Saturday following Thanksgiving through the spring, when our outdoor Kalamazoo Farmers Market opens. In the spring of 2020, in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, vendors from the Bank Street Winter Market moved outdoors to continue selling.
One difference to note is that the Bank Street Winter Market does not accept SNAP/EBT. SNAP/EBT acceptance is location-based. So while a vendor may accept food assistance currencies at our outdoor Kalamazoo Farmers Market, they may be unable to accept them at other markets. Kalamazoo Farmers Market wood tokens may only be used at our market.
