Winning money and watching football are both great. This weekly post will aim to help you do both. Each week, we’ll be putting together a $10 parlay bet that would return (at least) $100. We’ll be using a combination of point spreads, money lines and over/unders to put together these parlays, which will typically include four to six picks.
If I were into patting myself on the back, this is where I’d let you know I finished 32 games over .500 in picks against the spread in 2018. But that’s not who I am. Nope, not me.
Without further adieu, here is the $100 NFL parlay of Week 1…
Point spreads
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (-3) over Jaguars
Just one point-spread bet this week, and this one is a no-brainer for me. This Chiefs offense is loaded with talent, the always innovating Andy Reid will surely have some new tricks up his sleeves that the Jaguars haven’t seen on film, and Jacksonville just doesn’t have enough offensive firepower to keep up with Kansas City. Yes, the Jags defense should be very good, but NO team was able to hold the Chiefs to under 26 points last season. As bad as K.C.’s defense might be, it’s hard to imagine Nick Foles and his group of no-name receivers putting up 23 points.

Money lines
EAGLES (-475) over Redskins
One of the worst teams in the NFL going up against one the league’s best. Philly’s offense is loaded; Washington’s defense is suspect. The Eagles defense should have no problem containing Case Keenum and maybe the worst WR group in the NFL. The line is -9.5 for a reason.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (-270) over Texans
I’m actually surprised how good these odds are for the Saints. Houston just reconfigured its roster a week before the season and traded away its second-best defensive player. New Orleans is one of the most talented teams in the league. It’s a primetime game in the Superdome to boot. This should be a blowout.

BALTIMORE RAVENS (-310) over Dolphins
A playoff team a year ago going against one of the worst teams in the NFL. This is an easy pick. The one major concern with the Ravens defense is its pass rush. Well, Miami just traded away its left tackle and the offensive line was already a major issue before the deal. Baltimore’s defense will make this a comfortable victory.

CLEVELAND BROWNS (-270) over Titans
Yes, the Browns are probably overhyped, but the Titans offense is in shambles as we head into the opening week. It’s mostly the offensive line. RT Jack Conklin didn’t practice Wednesday. LT Taylor Lewan is suspended for the first month, and his replacement, Dennis Kelly, has been dealing with injury issues himself. Marcus Mariota is going to be seeing a lot of that dominant Browns defensive line, which includes Myles Garrett, Olivier Vernon and Sheldon Richardson.

BUFFALO BILLS (+125) over Jets
OK, so this is the key to the parlay. We’re definitely taking a chance here, but the Bills are the better team. Their defense is elite and should have no problem shutting down an average Jets offense. There are certainly question marks about Buffalo’s offense, but the Jets’ cornerback group is awful and they don’t have much of a pass rush.
